Christmas in February (Part 3)

I could have labeled this one, "Polar Express." Larry and my mom paid for all the grandkids to go see Polar Express in 3D on December 22nd. They dressed in their pajamas. After we all got home we gave the kids hot chocolate and cookies, kissed them all sweetly and sent them to bed.

Before the movie outside the theatre

After the movie drinking hot chocolate and eating cookies

I'm done with Christmas in Indy pictures and will continue on another time with pictures in Minnesota.

Christmas in February (Part 2)

Once again, we did not have Christmas in February. I hope to have all Christmas pictures up by the end of February though.

Sure and Nope

Up until last week, Titus never used the word, "Yes." His reply was always, "Sure."

Ask him, "Titus do you want this?" His reply, "Sure." Never yes.

Last week that all changed.

He was telling me something and he used the word, "YES."

Rest of the conversation went like this:
Me: "Titus, did you just use the word, "Yes?"
Titus: "Nope"

He used the word, "Yes," quite a bit after that point.

Until last week (maybe the week before) Titus used the word, "No." He used it quite well, in fact. Now, he never says "No." He always says, "Nope."

A Cat????????????

On my Kindle I have a drawing program. Titus and I will draw on it together. Many of times Titus tells me what to draw. He always has me draw a house, Mommy, Daddy, Titus, a dog, and a cat. Occasionally he will have me draw a boat with Mommy, Daddy, Titus, a dog, and a cat. In the back of my head I am thinking, "I hope this isn't his way of asking for a cat."

I was telling Aaron about this last night. His thoughts were that Titus has claimed the cat that mouse hunts in the woods behind us. Titus and I look for this stray occasionally, but with the cold weather we haven't seen it much. When we see it I do call it, "Our cat." Last night we saw a different cat coming from the woods. I said, "That isn't our cat. I wonder what happened to our cat." No wonder the kid thinks we have a cat. He can go on thinking we have a cat as long as that cat takes care of itself.

Just a Boy

Titus peed on the potty.
Mommy and Daddy were thrilled.
Mommy jumped on that.
One day of potty training.
3 hits (one #2)
4 misses
Day Two of potty training.
2 misses
Refusal to take breaks to sit on potty got the best of Mommy.
Back in diapers.
Taking a break over the weekend and trying something different on Monday that may fit his personality better.
He can do it, but to some degree he has got to want it. Right? Well, who knows. In June I may try cold turkey, but for now I think I may just sit him on the potty first thing in the morning every morning to where it is a part of his routine. He doesn't handle change very well and it shows up in other areas that put me in a swivet.

A conversation yesterday with Titus:

Me: Are you a baby?
Titus: A boy
Me: Are you a big boy?
Titus: A boy

I think sometimes as parents we want previous stages back to relive moments again. Other times we want them to move onto the next stage of life, because a part of their attitude needs adjusted. Right now Titus is just a boy. He is no longer my baby (always in my heart though), but yet he isn't a big boy yet either in so many ways. He is just a boy and I need to enjoy every day of that. One day he will be a big boy and I will want, "My Boy," back.

Favorite Books

Titus' favorite books right now are:

If You Give a Moose a Muffin
If You Give a Pig a Party
If You Take a Mouse to School
If You Take a Mouse to the Movies

All of these books are by Laura Joffe Numeroff.

Titus will let you read these books to him over and over and over again.
One of Titus' favorite things to do right now is pick out the beany animals that coincide with the story that is being read to him. I'm glad I picked up those beany animals at a yard sale for 5 cents each when I did. He plays with them all, and I mean all of the time right now.

If Memory Serves Me Right...

Titus is not a very affectionate kid. By this, I mean he has never really been one to give hugs and kisses freely. He has never been a snuggler, except when he is sick or teething. He is Mr. Independent.

Yesterday evening I was wanting a hug from him. I bargained by giving him chocolate in exchange. He willingly gave me a hug and went straight to the candy jar.

Last night as Aaron was reading books to him before bed, I went in to give him goodnight hugs and kisses. Usually I am the one giving him a forced hug and a kiss on the cheek. I was surprised when I told him I wanted my goodnight hug and he immediately came over to give me a hug. In the back of my head I am thinking, "This is weird, but nice."

Titus looks up after the hug and says, "Sucker?"

Yep, Mommy is a sucker and I gave Titus his vitamin as a, "Thanks kid."

(His memory is improving!)
