Breakthrough

  • A few weeks back I had written on www.titustweekly.blogspot.com that when asked what letter anything is he automatically says, "T." Yesterday in the bathtub he said, "R." The letter was not an "R," but he is breaking away from, "T."
  • Titus' answer has always been, "blue," for what color anything is.  It still is. However, it has made it difficult for me to access what colors he does know. He will randomly pick something up and say the correct color, but when asked directly everything is blue. A couple nights ago he brought me a water bottle with pompoms in it and poured it out all over the floor. I started by asking him to give me the white ones. He did. He did the same with green, blue, orange, black, purple. Once he figured out what was going on (seeing it as a trick) or maybe he just got bored and wanted to do his own thing, he started handing me random colors.
  • I must note that yesterday was the first time he attacked anything outside of paper with a marker. It was the table and they were washable markers. It was an easy clean-up and hopefully that is the worst it gets. Although, I am sure it won't be.
  • Those of you who are around Titus more often know that he asks about Zoey, our dog, all of the time. I mean, "ALL OF THE TIME!" Our answers are usually, "under the table, beside me, right behind you, etc. etc." I had read an article about how children his age are learning things such as under, above, and so on. This article gave me patience with his, "Zoey, go?" 100 times a day. Yesterday at breakfast he asked about Zoey once again. I told him, "Next to Mommy." He responded, "Behind me." He's getting there.
I know Titus fans are still wanting pictures, so here are some from this week:

I have started letting Titus pick out his own clothes for the day. This is the worst it has gotten. He was actually going for blue jeans, but then he saw these pants and said, "blue." So, blue it was.

Our dressing and undressing skills are not all that great yet, but it is a start.

What we call the "B" group around here is growing and growing in numbers. Before Christmas it was only bear, dog, and one blanket. Curious George and another blanket have been added. It is like rocking two children at once when putting him down for bed. Don't you just love his morning hair?

Titus loves his Cuties (small oranges). He'll eat two by himself and will sometimes ask for more. Yesterday he was successful in getting 1/4 of one peeled by himself, with teeth and fingers, before saying, "Hep me."
